My name is Jasmine Jones, and I’m located in Lafayette, Louisiana, and recently I started working again as a test administrator. I’m apart of a military family, and I’m a veteran of the Army myself I work hard to embrace the everyday challenges of life.
I have generalized Myasthenia Gravis with thymoma my story started with double/blurry vision and a trip to the ER that began my journey. The thymoma that I had was removed in December of 2018. My symptoms included weakness of limbs, double/blurry vision, speech, and chewing issues, drooping of the upper eyelid, and shortness of breath. The current doctors I see are neurologists, endocrinologists, primary, and oncologists. The treatments that I have had are IVIG (Intravenous immunoglobulin), plasmapheresis, and robotic thymectomy. When it comes to medications, I take several during the day and night for daily functions.
Myasthenia Gravis has changed my life significantly by my relationships in the way individuals interact with me and even how I care for myself. My mental state can be impaired from time to time. Even when I had to leave my job I’m now starting to process of working again slowly but surely. Life is unpredictable but it can have a fantastic impact.
I’ve done acupuncture to help with stress and even working on losing weight. Changing the way I eat is beneficial as this can help with how the body functions. I believe in keeping a pleasant stable environment around to help with health.
I struggle with the unknown and not knowing how this illness with affect me for the rest of my life. I have my moments when I want to just be alone and not deal with what this disorder has done to me. I know everything happens for a reason.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me. Phil 4:13
I’m all about strength ! I always say if it’s me or you on a treadmill who do you think will get of first? I’m so passionate about who I am as a woman. I’ve dealt with pain, adversity, and setbacks. I might fail but you can’t say she didn’t try!
